- Act 1: Shipwrecked in Illyria. Orsino's longing for Olivia, Viola's shipwreck on the coast of Illyria, her disguise as Cesario, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew at Olivia's house, Cesario's errand to Olivia and the ring Olivia sends after him.
- Act 2: Some Are Born Great. Sebastian and Antonio, Malvolio returning the ring, the late-night singing at Olivia's house, Maria's plot, Orsino and Cesario talking of love, and Malvolio reading the forged letter.
- Act 3: A Challenge Sent. Cesario's talk with Feste, Olivia's confession of love, Sir Andrew's challenge, Antonio's purse, Malvolio in yellow stockings, the duel that never quite happens and Antonio's arrest.
- Act 4: Mad or Dreaming. Feste and Sir Andrew mistaking Sebastian for Cesario, the fight that Olivia stops, Malvolio in the dark room visited by a false curate, and Sebastian's vows to Olivia before a priest.
- Act 5: The Twins Meet. Orsino's visit to Olivia, Antonio's accusation, Olivia's claim on her ‘husband’, the twins meeting at last, Malvolio's letter and his anger, and Feste's closing song.
